The 15th Young Dancers Festival and International Summer School

The summer school  workshops will be held at  the  local Youth Center,  the Academy of Culture, cinema "Ruby", theatre "Ugala", and the City Library where one of the  Embassy's American Corners is located. 

  This summer, the Action Theater concept will be introduced to Estonians and to the international circle of participants of the festival. Begun in the U.S., Action Theater is very popular in the U.S. and in Western Europe but is unfortunately not well known in the Baltic and Nordic countries.

  According to the well-established traditions of this summer school,  different teachers works with study-groups. Ruth Zaporah is a US teacher of performing arts, which she calls ACTION THEATER. She introduces students to the multitude of characters and the variety of different minds which reside in their bodies. Simultaneously, Ms. Zaporah teaches the basic tools of form and process so that personal expression can be constructed into aesthetic and powerful design structures creating a dynamic new theatre. Action Theater incorporates the disciplined use of exercises that lead to increased skills for strong, clear, spontaneous, and artful communication.

Ruth Zaporah  participates in the 15th Viljandi Young Dancers Festival and International Summer School under the US Culture Envoy Program,  co-sponsored by the US Embassy in Tallinn.  Her workshops  take place in Viljandi  from July 3 – 14 , 2007.
