Social Security and other Federal Benefits



American Citizens residing in Estonia may receive their Social Security Benefits in Estonia. The fees charged by the local bank, however, are often substantial.

U.S. Treasury Checks (including Social Security and tax Refunds) payable to American Citizens residing in Estonia are generally sent to the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn via diplomatic mail. Social Security recipients should inform the Consular Section whether they prefer to collect their checks in person or have them forwarded through local mail.
