Ambassador Phillips awards the U.S. Combat Infantryman Badge to an Estonian soldier
who served with distinction in Iraq, one of 52 awards presented in a ceremony at
Estonian Maritime Museum on June 11, 2007.


On June 11, 2007, Ambassador Phillips presided over a military awards ceremony in Tallinn to present U.S. medals to Estonian troops who served with distinction in Iraq . Ambassador Phillips, who was joined by the chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Forces, presented 63 awards to 53 soldiers who were recently returned from service in Iraq. The Ambassador presented four Bronze Star Medals, 44 Army Commendation Medals, fourteen Combat Infantry Badges, and one Combat Action Badge, to an Estonian major who was attacked by an improvised explosive device while riding in a convoy.
