Consumer Electronics Show to Focus on Technology and Development
On January 9, 2008, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas will feature a seminar co-sponsored by the U.S. Government highlighting the transformational role that telecommunications technology can play in overcoming development challenges.
CES, which is held annually in Las Vegas, is the largest trade show in the world and focuses on new technology. This year, a special seminar entitled "Technology and Emerging Countries: Advancing Development through Technology Investment," will be held at the Las Vegas Hilton theater on January 9, 2008. The seminar is co-sponsored by President Bush's Digital Freedom Initiative. Rwandan president Paul Kagame, Nicholas Negroponte of the One Laptop Per Child Project, and Paul Jacobs, CEO of Qualcomm, will be among those participating in the seminar.
